Uintah County Jail Capacity
The Utah DOC Jail Programs booklet gives the clearest facility data. It lists Uintah County with 384 total jail beds, 248 contracted state beds, 135 beds available for housing to Corrections, and male housing. Those figures explain why Uintah County Jail should not be described as only a short-term holding room. It is a county jail and a state contract jail site.
Current daily population was not published in the official county sources reviewed. Vera historical data lists a 2019 jail population or ADP of 218, but that is not a current count. The facility page should therefore use the DOC capacity and contract figures as current facility facts and keep historical Vera figures attached to their year.
County Jail and State Contract Housing
Uintah County Jail holds local pretrial detainees and county-sentenced inmates, but the UDC contract role means state-sentenced male inmates can also be housed there. The UDC booklet supplies unusually detailed program data for Uintah County Jail. It lists High School or Utah H.S. Completion Diploma through Uintah School District, TABE testing, computer classes through Corrections Learning Network, Pre-SUTP, Substance Use Treatment Program, job-search classes, alcohol, anger management, communication and interpersonal relationship classes, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, HIV/AIDS, parenting, relapse prevention, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other cognitive or life-skills classes.
